A Storm in Heaven [ The Verve Fanlisting ]

About

Fanlistings are meant to be places where all the fans of a certain person, thing, movie, song, tv show, etc. can unite and show their love for the subject in question. The original fanlistings network was the brainchild of Janine, who wanted to find out how many fans there were scattered around the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the official best show ever). If you visit TFL.org now, you'll see that there are about 25,000 listings, so Janine's idea obviously caught on with the obsessive, web-savvy public. :)

If you've never joined a fanlisting before, you might be wondering what you're getting yourself into. Well, not to worry -- you're really just adding your name to a list of people who are fans of something, in this case, The Verve. You will not be signing up for a mailing list or anything like that. You'll get one email when I add you to the list, and you might get a note from me if the site ever moves, but other than that I guarantee that I won't be bugging you with constant emails or anything. Your email address does not have to be displayed on this site, so you don't need to worry about spammers getting ahold of it. Basically, if you don't have a website, then joining a fanlisting asks absolutely nothing of you aside from filling out one form. If you have a website, you can put up link buttons showing off all the things you're a fan of (like I've done here) but you don't have to do that if you don't want to. So all you're doing by joining this fanlisting is telling the world that you love its subject, and helping tell anyone who happens to see this site just how many people feel the same way. And that's pretty much all you need to know.

This fanlisting is obviously for the great English rock band called The Verve. Some quick facts: The Verve formed in Wigan in 1989 and released two studio albums (A Storm in Heaven in 1993 and A Northern Soul in 1995) before splitting up briefly in the summer of 1995. They re-formed to release Urban Hymns in 1997, which would see their greatest success with the song "Bitter Sweet Symphony." The band split up again in 1998. They released a greatest hits compilation in 2004 before briefly reuniting once again in 2007 to tour and release a fourth album, fittingly named Forth, in 2008. Alas, it was not meant to be, and the band split up again in August 2009. For more information, see the biography and discography sections.

I applied to run this fanlisting when it was removed from TFL because, quite simply, The Verve is one of my favourite bands of all time. There are very few songs of theirs that I don't adore, and I still listen to them often. They're one of those bands I never get tired of, and the beauty of their music and lyrics always inspires me. :)
